Escapade’s Darth Vader Supreme Edition Costume

Around the world, Star Wars fans are eagerly anticipating the staged release of the phenomenally successful space series in 3D. The first film to receive the 3D treatment, Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, is due out in February and, as international trailers are posted on fan sites, online forums and message boards are buzzing with excitement.

Supporting industries are also optimistic about the launch, with new action figures, costumes, games and posters being snapped up by fans. Director Bhupendra Maisuria believes this is because the release of the films in 3D – some 35 years after the original Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope hit cinema screens in 1977 – will bring the epic adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and their battles with the dark side of the Force to a whole new generation.

With George Lucas reportedly waiting until ‘enough’ cinemas could support 3D, new, younger fans will be able to watch the saga unfold over the next five years.

“At Escapade we are huge fans of the Star Wars saga, from the classic old films to the exciting brand new releases and to prove it we are proud to boast the UK’s biggest collection of Star Wars fancy dress,” said Bhupendra. “Our Star Wars range also features costumes – for adults and children – that can’t be found anywhere else in the UK.”

Among the new-for-2012 Star Wars themed children’s fancy dress outfits are the Savage Opress costume, the deluxe Chewbacca costume, the Jawa costume and, or course, the Stormtrooper costume. And grown-up fans might fancy donning one of the new Emperor’s Royal Guard, Darth Maul or Shadow Trooper costumes.

As well as stocking up on new costumes, Escapade are celebrating the upcoming film release with a competition to win two rather covetable prizes. With so many opportunities for dress up there are many fancy dress costumes to choose from for kids, here is a look at a few of them.

Fancy Dress Princesses – a common concept amongst little girls is that they love Princesses and fairytales. They love the Princess’ pretty dress, their beautiful hair, and the way they dance and sing, they love everything about them and want to be just like them. There are many costumes along these lines such as Belle, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, or a generic Princess or Fairy costume. An idea to think about is a 2 in 1 costume, you can buy a costume that is reversible, for example a dress that is Snow White on one side, turn it inside out and it’s Belle – perfect for your little princess.

Fancy Dress Super Heroes – now you may think your little boy is a hero anyway but he will want to dress up and prove it to the world! Usually little boys love to dress up as their favourite action man or super hero whether it is Superman flying around from one sofa to the other, or Spiderman climbing up the walls, or maybe it’s the Incredible Hulk (hopefully he won’t rip the costume apart playing this one) but whichever your child’s fantasy hero is there is a costume to choose from.
